Privacy Policy
Last updated June 2, 2026.
Spok3n is built around the principle that your voice is yours. This policy covers the Spok3n apps on both macOS and iOS (the iPhone app and its Spok3n keyboard). All speech transcription happens entirely on your device using WhisperKit and Apple's Neural Engine, and optional AI polish runs on-device as well. Your audio is never transmitted to our servers, stored externally, or used for training.
The Spok3n keyboard (iPhone)
The Spok3n keyboard requests Full Access for one reason: to share dictated text with the main Spok3n app through a private, on-device App Group container and to open the app to start dictation. The keyboard does not record, log, or transmit your keystrokes or anything you type. Microphone recording happens only inside the main app, after you explicitly tap to dictate. Nothing you type on the keyboard is ever sent to Spok3n or any third party.
What we collect
- Account email — used only for authentication (email, Sign in with Apple, or Google) and sending critical product updates (security, breaking changes).
- Weekly word count— the app tracks how many words you've dictated in the current week so we can enforce the Free plan's 5,000-word limit. Only the count is stored; the words themselves stay on your device.
- Billing metadata (Pro subscribers)— on iPhone, Pro is purchased through Apple's App Store; Apple handles payment and we receive only your subscription status and renewal date. On Mac, Stripe handles payment and stores your name, email, and card details under their privacy policy; we receive a customer ID, subscription status, and renewal date only — never your card number.
- App update checks (Mac) — the Mac app periodically fetches
/api/latest-versionto offer updates. These requests contain no identifying information. The iPhone app updates through the App Store and makes no such request.
What we don't collect
- Audio recordings.
- Transcribed or dictated text.
- Keystrokes or anything you type on the Spok3n keyboard.
- Clipboard contents.
- Usage telemetry or analytics events.
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your Spok3n account and its data at any time from the web account page or within the app (Settings → Delete Account). This removes your account from our authentication system and clears Spok3n's data on your device. Web and macOS deletion cancels active Stripe subscriptions before the account is removed. Deleting your account does not cancel an active Apple subscription — manage that through your Apple ID subscription settings.
